Our History

New Hope was organized in 1887 in Austin, Texas.  The church was established under the leadership of former slave Reverand Jacob Fontaine (1808-1898).  In October 2018, NHMBC celebrated its 131st church anniversary.  Reverend Roy F. Jones II, who has lead New Hope Missionary Baptist Church (NHMBC) for the last 19 years has been inspired by the legacy of Reverend Fontaine, for his love of people and the organized partnerships within the community for which he served.  

Through GOD's Grace and Mercy, NHMBC was able to sustain itself and is looking forward to the great VISION of expansion to better serve our developing communities.
